North Bellmore is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, directly north of Bellmore. Most of it shares Bellmore's 11710 ZIP code, with some streets in 11566 or 11793, and the 2020 Census counted 20,583 residents. About 91% of its roughly 6,700 homes are single-family houses, and the median home was built in 1958.

The Southern State Parkway runs through North Bellmore, with exits at Newbridge Road and Bellmore Road. Jerusalem Avenue begins at Newbridge Road here, and its business district got a streetscape makeover from Newbridge Road to Oakfield Avenue. There's no LIRR station in the hamlet; the Bellmore and Merrick stations on the Babylon Branch are close by.

Parks and the library

Newbridge Road Park at 2600 Newbridge Road has an indoor ice rink, outdoor pools, a dog park and tennis. The North Bellmore Public Library is at 1551 Newbridge Road.

Getting around

The Southern State Parkway has exits at Newbridge Road (Route 106) and Bellmore Road. For the train, the Bellmore and Merrick stations on the LIRR's Babylon Branch are a short drive south; check MTA schedules.

Schools

North Bellmore is served by the North Bellmore Union Free School District and the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District for grades 7 to 12. District lines don't follow hamlet or ZIP lines, so check the district for any specific address.

Taxes

The Town of Hempstead Receiver of Taxes collects school, county and town property taxes. General taxes are due in halves on January 1 and July 1 (payable without penalty through February 10 and August 10); school taxes are due October 1 and April 1 (through November 10 and May 10). See the tax payment schedule. To challenge an assessment, file a grievance with Nassau County's Assessment Review Commission; the next filing window runs January 4 to March 1, 2027.
